A trip to Assam is incomplete without paying a visit to the one-of-its kind river island of Majuli, the largest in Asia. Located amidst the Brahmaputra River, Majuli can be reached by boarding a ferry from Nimati ghat in Jorhat.  The Journey to this island from the mainland is a trip through serenity.

Home to many satras, Majuli highlights the exclusive Neo-Viashnavite culture, promoted by the great Assamese saint Srimanta Sankardeva in the 16thcentury. Satrasin Majuli are religious institutions and cultural centers aimed at developing and propagating Aankia naat, Bhaona, Raas, Borgeetand other performing arts.  Kamalabri Satra, Auniati Satra, Dakhinpat Satra are few of the prominentsatras of the Majuli.
